Looky-there! It's Monday again! Last week was a pretty big week people! And this week will be just as exciting for our family!
But for today, I will discuss with you something very near and dear to my heart.
I think some people shy away from them for fear that people may think they look childish. That subject is for a post at a later time, but I am definitely not one to fear being persecuted for my big hair bows or flower headbands. And you can bet with my hair type that if something is stuck in it, it will be there indefinitely until I recover it later in the shower. It is not uncommon for me to discover bobby pins in my hair and not remembering when I last put them in...
In my (new) profession of nursing, though some nurses do, I do not like to leave my hair down. My hair can't handle being washed every day and since I am around bodily fluids quite frequently, my hair stays tucked away in some form. And besides that, though you can buy cute patterned-y scrubs, it is just not the same as dressing up (which I like to do) most days. So I make do by spicing things up and adding some flare to the hair.
I don't feel like I am a flashy/ I want you to notice me person, but I do like that it makes me a little different from other people. But now, all of the rest of you will start wearing more hair accessories, and then I will have to stop. Kidding.
But more importantly, dress and accessorize in a way that makes you feel comfortable and good about yourself. Wear your favorite top more often or favorite glittery jewelry even if you are just wearing a T-shirt! And please, don't judge others on the way they dress, because it probably is what makes them feel comfortable and more themselves! One of my other favorite things is seeing someone dress totally out of the norm and knowing that they probably just really love that outfit/hat/shoes/whatever and feel really good about themselves in it. We too quickly want to pull people down and make them feel silly, even if we don't verbally say anything, your face probably says it all. One of my not so favorite things is hearing people say, "well it looks good on you, but I probably couldn't pull it off." Well really who cares? If you like it, own it! You will actually probably be surprised to hear people praise you for your braveness to wear it and tell you that you look really good with it!
Okay, sorry for the soapbox moment! So for today, or maybe sometime this week, don't be afraid to take a risk with a piece that you really love! Or go buy a cute headband! Or buy me one at least...
